Newborn Session

 How we schedule your session?

Since we don’t know when your baby will actually arrive, what I do is put your due date on my schedule. If you have a scheduled C-section we can put that day on the schedule. This saves you a spot on my calendar. Once the baby is here, I just need you to contact me as soon as possible with a quick message to let me know that your baby has arrived (the sooner I know the better) and how much the baby weighs. I will then send you some dates for you to choose from for your session when your newborn is between 6 and 14 days old. Newborn sessions are scheduled Mondays and Tuesdays. If your baby is having a circumcision we will have to schedule your session at least 5 days after the procedure.

When is the best time to book a session?

The best time to schedule your session is during your 2nd trimester. This will save a spot in my calendar and once your baby arrives we will schedule a session when your baby is 6-14 days old. If any changes occur during your pregnancy such as a scheduled C-section or your due date is adjusted, you can just let me know.

When and where does the newborn photo session take place?

In order to capture those sleepy, curled-up poses of your baby, it's best to do the photos when the baby is 6-21 days old. During the first couple of weeks, they are the sleepiest so its possible to do those sleepy poses. All newborn photoshoots take place in my home studio which is located in Ridgefield, WA.

What do you need to bring to your session?

Basics for baby like diapers, wipes, pacifier (even if you do not plan to use one it will be a great help during the session to sooth the baby).

 In my studio I have some props, headbands, blankets, and hats. I don’t have many colors yet, but if there is a color you would like in your session, I will make sure to get it. If there is anything specific you would like to be incorporated in the photo, please let me know. I will have water, coffee, and some snacks for you to enjoy. Please no personal cameras or cell phone cameras in the studio.

Do you do Parent and sibling photos?

Yes! We will do parent/sibling photos first before baby’s pictures. That way if you have a toddler your partner can take them home or leave for a bit so that you can relax and watch your newborn be photographed. The temperature in the studio will be around 75-80* so make sure to wear layers.
